For S/S 2012, Christopher Bailey sought to highlight the handmade and artisanal aspects of Burberry's heritage. Classic streetwear and workwear pieces were deconstructed for warmer weather and realised in colourful textured fabrics. These trousers combine Prorsum's typical razor-sharp tailoring with a strong workwear element, and were worn in several runway looks. Although from a summer collection, they are impeccably crafted and sturdier than most winter trousers. They feature an abundance of interesting details, including a chunky metal clasp on the button fly that appears to be inspired by the neck closure of trench coats. 

The trousers are made from a thick denim fabric that has been wax-coated for a deep and textured finish. They cut is narrow with a slim tapered leg. While having belt loops, the waist features sets of buttons that could theoretically accommodate suspenders, while adding a point of visual interest. The waist has an artfully constructed 'fishtail' back. All pockets feature heavy double reinforcing that enhances their structural integrity. In addition to the metal clasp, the front closes with 5 buttons and a metal hook-and-eye closure. 

A closer inspection reveals that the trousers' interior is just as beautiful as the exterior: the waistband is lined in an intriguing coated fabric, while the front is lined in a smooth cupro/acetate blend that makes the trousers very comfortable. The buttons are engraved with the Burberry Prorsum logo, while all hardware has a matte black finish that complements the trousers' directional styling. Overall, no compromises have been made in their finishing.

This is a beautifully constructed pair of trousers that demonstrates Burberry Prorsum's high standards of design and manufacture. The unique fabric and perfectly executed detailing completely set them apart from ordinary trousers, while their sturdy construction ensures that they will be worn for years.
